Please contact reception for an appointment with the practice nurse.

Family Planning

Appointments can be made with any doctor for advice on, and management of, contraception. Once a method is established you are advised to have an annual check-up and a smear every three years. This can be booked with the doctor or the practice nurse.

Immunisation Against Influenza

Vaccination is recommended in October of each year in line with Department of Health guidelines. Look out for practice posters in September annually.

The Department of Health, based on good medical evidence, recommends that the following groups of people should receive influenza vaccination.

  1. Everyone over the age of 65 (and their carers where applicable)
  2. Those of any age with
    • Chronic respiratory/lung disease (including asthma, bronchitis, emphysema)
    • Chronic heart disease
    • Chronic kidney disease (eg kidney failure)
    • Liver disease
    • Diabetes
    • Immunosuppression for any disease
  3. Everyone in long-stay residential accommodation - as above

At the same time patients aged 65 and over or patients in high risk groups will also be offered vaccination against pneumonia. In this case one injection should provide 10 years' protection. Please contact the surgery to make an appointment.

Sick Children

Children will always be seen as soon as possible if brought to the surgery. Please ring first to help the surgery run smoothly. (This will be quicker than a home visit.)
